Men’s Club’s 2016-2017 Calendar of Events

The Men’s Club of Adat Shalom offers over 30 programs designed to appeal to all of our members’ interests. This year we have a wide variety of educational, social and community service programming. In addition to the events listed below are special programs like the Hebrew Literacy program, the Yom Hashoah Essay Contest and the Intercongregational Men’s Club Softball League. This special showing of last year’s hit from the Jewish Film Festival will satisfy both your culinary and cinematic tastes. We’re proud to present this special co-sponsored event with Temple Israel. We will be serving a deli meal, and then showing this entertaining look at the Deli industry, including Mel Brooks and other notable Jewish entertainers, as well as Cantor Jack Mendelson, who will be visiting our shul (also in a joint program) in early November. [su_spoiler title=”November 13 – Men’s Club Breakfast Program: Men at a Cross Roads” style=”fancy”] Hearing Men’s Voices (HMV) is a program developed by the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs that engages men in Jewish life by building male relationships and extending Jewish community. Hearing Men’s Voices facilitates conversations about important topics among men through dialogue. Our own David Shevrin, who is an organization development consultant and professional facilitator will lead small groups in conversations about Jewish Men at a Crossroads: How do we explain the disappearance of so many men from active involvement in the Jewish community? The Men’s Club also sponsors and helps staff many other Adat Shalom and Community activities including participation in Housing the Homeless, awarding scholarships from its Glasser Fund, and providing volunteers for Religious School Picnics, Holiday Kiddushs and many other Shul events.
