SUMMARY:From Évian to The Dominican Republic: From Historical Discovery to Global Educational Action
DESCRIPTION:Hugh’s research about the 1938 Évian Conference has evolved into an\ninternational educational initiative in the Dominican Republic\, the only\nnation to offer a haven to Jewish refugees following the conference. His\nengaging presentation combines historical facts\, photographs\, personal\nexperiences\, and stories from nearly a decade of work preserving this\nremarkable chapter of Jewish history through the creation of Sosua75 in the\nDominican Republic. \nThe program\, presented in memory of Baver’s parents\, longtime Adat Shalom\nmembers Howard and Ruth Baver\, will explore remembrance\, moral courage and how\nindividual curiosity can lead to meaningful educational change. \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/16916

SUMMARY:Conversations after Kiddush
DESCRIPTION:**Adat Shalom** is proud to partner with **3GMichigan** \, a local organization\nthat engages descendants of Holocaust survivors in Michigan by fostering a\nsupportive community\, educating future generations through their families’\nstories\, and empowers the community to take a stand against antisemitism and\ndiscrimination. \nHear Ryan Fishman share the story of his grandfather\, Elias Burstin (born 1920\nin Lwów)\, who survived arrest\, imprisonment in Janowska\, and the loss of his\nentire family during the Holocaust by escaping under a false identity and\nenduring forced labor in Germany. After the war\, he married in 1945 and\nimmigrated to Detroit in 1949 where he then established himself and built a\nfamily. \nChildcare available upon request. \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/13586
