SUMMARY:Volunteer Day  2026
DESCRIPTION:The tradition of helping organizations throughout Metro Detroit\, the USA\, and\nIsrael improve lives continues during Adat Shalom’s 12th Annual volunteer Day.\nVolunteers of ALL AGES/STAGES are invited to be a mensch. Volunteer Day is\nmade possible thanks to a very dedicated planning committee. \n**Projects include\, but not limited to:**\n  * Assembling bag lunches and bags of toiletries for Hope Warming Center in Pontiac\n  * Making cat and dog tug toys for a local animal shelter using upcycle materials for Michigan Animal Rescue League\n  * Building wooden bed kits for disadvantaged kids with Sleep in Heavenly Peace*\n  * Kids must have a parent/grandparent with them to do this project.\n  * Every volunteer will need to sign a waiver (see attachment). Waivers will be available to sign during Volunteer Day.\n  * This project will continue until all of the wooden bed kits are completed.\n  * Decorating bags and make snack packs for kids who have food insecurities in partnership with Song and Spirit Institute of Peace\n  * Packing bags of dry soup ingredients with Metro Food Rescue\n  * Making cookies and pack baby bags for Adat Shalom’s Chesed (kindness) Committee’s deliveries\n  * Illustrating cards for Jewish soldiers in the US Armed Forces and in the ID\n  * Rolling beeswax candles with Adat Shalom’s Green Team for the Chesed Committee’s Shabbat deliveries \n**Donations appreciated before and/on volunteer day:  **\n  * Travel & regular size toiletries\n  * New socks for kids & adults\n  * Food\, towels\, blankets\, sheets\, & toys for animals\n  * New gloves and hats for kids and adults\n  * Baby items – diapers\, wipes\, food\, & formula\n  * Feminine hygiene products\n  * New or gently used kids’ books \n**In partnership with the following organizations:**\n  * (https://www.metrofoodrescue.com/)\n  * (https://jslmi.org/)\n  * (https://www.projecthealthycommunity.org/)\n  * (https://marl.org/)\n  * (https://www.hopeshelters.org/)\n  * (https://shpbeds.org/)\n  * (https://songandspirit.org/)\n  * (https://friendsofpasteur.org/) \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/13281
