Volunteer Day 2026

The tradition of helping organizations throughout Metro Detroit, the USA, and
Israel improve lives continues during Adat Shalom’s 12th Annual volunteer Day.
Volunteers of ALL AGES/STAGES are invited to be a mensch. Volunteer Day is
made possible thanks to a very dedicated planning committee.

**Projects include, but not limited to:**
* Assembling bag lunches and bags of toiletries for Hope Warming Center in Pontiac
* Making cat and dog tug toys for a local animal shelter using upcycle materials for Michigan Animal Rescue League
* Building wooden bed kits for disadvantaged kids with Sleep in Heavenly Peace*
* Kids must have a parent/grandparent with them to do this project.
* Every volunteer will need to sign a waiver (see attachment). Waivers will be available to sign during Volunteer Day.
* This project will continue until all of the wooden bed kits are completed.
* Decorating bags and make snack packs for kids who have food insecurities in partnership with Song and Spirit Institute of Peace
* Packing bags of dry soup ingredients with Metro Food Rescue
* Making cookies and pack baby bags for Adat Shalom’s Chesed (kindness) Committee’s deliveries
* Illustrating cards for Jewish soldiers in the US Armed Forces and in the ID
* Rolling beeswax candles with Adat Shalom’s Green Team for the Chesed Committee’s Shabbat deliveries

**Donations appreciated before and/on volunteer day: **
* Travel & regular size toiletries
* New socks for kids & adults
* Food, towels, blankets, sheets, & toys for animals
* New gloves and hats for kids and adults
* Baby items – diapers, wipes, food, & formula
* Feminine hygiene products
* New or gently used kids’ books
